Readers and Writers Groups

We have informal, friendly Readers and Writers groups and new members are always welcome, so if you are looking to join a group you have come to the right place - just click on the groups below for more info.

If you would like to start your own book group we can help!

We have a collection of titles just for readers groups - each title has around 12 copies - they are listed HERE

There is also the option to use our book of the month for your readers group - we select one title per month with unlimited loans, in both Audio and eBook – the unlimited titles are listed at the top of our Borrowbox page.

For more information contact your local library, call us on 01750 726400 or email libraries@liveborders1.org.uk

Join us for a different reading group experience.  The group has the same friendly welcome but the difference is you don’t need to read anything in advance.  Our leader reads part of a novel, a short story or poem aloud.  Everyone receives a copy of the text so you can read along if you wish.  Sit back and relax as your group dives into new stories and old favourites, centred around a monthly theme.

If you would like more information about shared reading and the benefits of the group visit Open Book.

Contact Galashiels Library for any queries about this group on 01896 664170 or email libgalashiels@liveborders1.org.uk

Read Your Own Readers Group
Members will come together to discuss their current read whether it be fiction, non-fiction, a magazine article or even a play. The group offers the opportunity to learn about different authors and broaden your own reading horizons. Members are given the chance to evaluate and share what they have been reading with the rest of the group.
